Lady of Ch'iao Kuo: Warrior of the South, Southern China, A.D. 531
6/6
The Royal Diaries is a great series which introduces young girls to their historical idols through the lens of the young queens to be at the tender ages of 12-14. Lady Ch'iiao Kuo was the best-researched book in the entire series. Laurence Yep was stunning in his adaption of this beautiful princess and her amazing story. He kept the culture vivid while keeping it relatable to a girl in this generation. Stunning and a perfect work of art. I use these novels in the Girl Scout JR Badge Playing the Past.
Tarot CArd: Seven of Pentacles- Art of Life deck has quotes and this card quote was very apt. "With time and patience, the mulberry leaf becomes a silk gown." a Chinese proverb. The book has a very open view point and it brings forward a princess who is wonderful and blossoming into a wonderful young woman.
